Supporting mental and physical wellbeing through dance.
A Fylde Coast based charity founded by dancers, Tia’s Crown aims to give something back to local communities and organisations where it is needed most, supporting people affected by mental and physical health issues through the positive action of dance.
Their provided support comes through free regular dance sessions within a safe environment, recognising this as something that is not always accessible for those in the surrounding local communities.
The charity sees the positive impact that dancing can have on a person, following Therapy in Action (TIA) as a way to escape from daily life and mix with other people to release endorphins, boost confidence and receive physical exercise.
The grant provided will enable Tia’s Crown to bring its free dance sessions to more people throughout the community by funding extra sessions on a more frequent basis, whilst covering room hire, dance teachers and refreshments.
The group holds regular fundraising events, most recently they attempted a triple Guinness World Record of the world’s biggest cha-cha-challenge. A hundred dancers successfully completed the challenge at the iconic Blackpool Tower Ballroom.
Additionally, they co-ordinate the annual ‘Dance Floor Heroes’ event, which gives the public a chance to take part in a Strictly Come Dancing-style competition with professional dance partners.
