Streetwise Youth Community

A charity that offers a selection of activities that enhance the physical, financial, mental and behavioural wellbeing to groups across the Fylde Coast.

By providing affordable or even free positive activities to families in need, Streetwise has been impacting generations to build stronger and more positive communities for over 21 years. Through this process, Streetwise creates an environment where members can build strong relationships and have meaningful experiences. It operates and conducts its projects at its Warton Community Centre, which has become an integral part of the local community and a safe haven for those seeking help.

According to Streetwise, their endeavours have made a positive difference in the lives of 79,000 individuals, with 33,000 being solely from the establishment of the Community Centre in 2017. Despite relying on volunteer support, donations and small grants, the Centre is struggling financially to sustain its operations and cater to the growing need for its services. The current cost of living crisis has exacerbated this challenge, making it particularly difficult to meet the needs of their members five days a week.

The DJ Sidebottom / Glasdon Charitable Programme has pledged a donation to Streetwise and the Community Centre, enabling them to continue in their charitable mission. As well as assisting with the running costs, a variety of their group activities will be funded with this donation. Groups include mother & baby and family support, adult/teenage mental health support, cooking, self-defence, dance and drama.
