Rainbows Recycling Challenge Hits the Beach

Young girl guides from the 2nd Ansdell Rainbows group in Lytham St Annes, recently took on a recycling challenge on their local beach to learn more about looking after our planet.

Armed with their Litta-Pikka™ litter collection tools and hi-vis vests, provided by Glasdon, the troop spent an evening collecting rubbish on the beach and filled four bags.

The girls had great fun helping in the community, while learning about the different types of recyclable waste that we generate and where it should be properly disposed of so that it doesn’t damage the environment and wildlife.

Thanks to the success of this challenge, they are now looking forward to another beach recycling challenge in the Autumn.

The theme for the challenges were inspired by one of the groups young leaders, who has been selected to represent Girlguiding North West England on an international trip to Belize this summer.

Leader Amy will be working in the country on a marine conservation project and she has raised £2,600 for the trip with the help of a donation from the Glasdon Charitable Giving Committee.
