Glasdon Chooses its Employee Charity of the Year
- D.J. Sidebottom / Glasdon Charitable Programme
- 13 Dec 2022
After a raft of worthwhile nominations from Glasdon employees over the last few weeks, The DJ Sidebottom/Glasdon Charitable Programme has decided on its Employee Charity of the Year. Drum roll please...
The DJ Sidebottom/Glasdon Charitable Programme has chosen the ‘Empowerment Charity’ as its winner. The Blackpool based organisation is committed to its long-term commitments to supporting the local communities and empowering the lives within them.
No matter who the person is, or their background, Empowerment ensures that users have their voices heard through a series of services. They assist those experiencing a range of complex issues, including those feeling lonely or isolated, adults seeking advocacy, children that are victims of domestic abuse, young men facing mental health issues, community members facing poverty and family members in need of health and social care support.
Empowerment often works with people who feel they can’t make a meaningful connection within their life. Their engagement team are working across all their services and projects to challenge unconnected systems within the community and tackle the barriers that people in Blackpool face. Their services work on various projects that offer the community the opportunity to connect to other people, such as Elliot's Place – a suicide prevention project aimed at helping young men struggling with mental health.
They are a ‘User-Led’ charity with service user representation on their Board of Trustees – a range of opportunities whereby the users shape and develop their services to ensure their voice is heard by the key decision makers.
Empowerment will receive £10,000 which will be used to help develop their garden space that allows people in Blackpool who are experiencing issues to come together, creating a sanctuary for them to relax, socialise and take a vital respite from their daily lives.
