Solar Energy Boost for Glasdon

Glasdon UK Limited has invested in a new solar PV system to reduce the company’s CO2 emissions.

The market leading supplier of environmental and safety products has installed additional solar panels on Warehouse 3 in a bid to further cut the company’s CO² emissions by an estimated 2525 tonnes over the next 25 years, the equivalent of driving 6,181,100 miles by car.*

Committed to continuously improving our environmental performance, many of our products are manufactured using recycled and recyclable materials, with sustainability at the forefront of our product design.

Warehouse 3 is on the same electrical supply as Warehouse 2 and the Innovation & Export Centre, which combined, these three properties use around 385,000kWh of energy per year.

In a bid to become greener, we have installed a further 180kWp of solar panels that are estimated to generate around 143,000kWh of electricity in their first year. This new system is in addition to the 157kWp solar PV system that was installed in August 2017 on Warehouse 3, giving Glasdon UK Limited a total of 337kWp of solar panels.

The new system consists of 666no. 270w panels covering an area of 1,087m² (11,700ft²) and we estimate that we will directly save on our consumption at Glasdon Warehouse 3 by using approximately 70% (100,000 kWh) of the energy produced from the new panels.

As of 31st December 2018, the Department of Energy and Climate Change figures reported that the number of solar PV sites in the North West stood at 83,502**.
