Play Inclusion Project

Swimming with a smile – supporting social inclusivity for SEND children.

Play Inclusion Project was founded all the way back in 1990, by a group of parents who wanted brighter opportunities for their children.

Young people with disabilities often struggle with socialising and play, but this group of devoted parents didn’t want their kids to miss out. Determined to provide the same experiences and activities as others enjoy, they came together to create a weekend swimming club for 8–18yr old SEND children.

The club runs every other Saturday, with attendees taking to the water under full staff supervision to ensure each child’s support needs are met. Not only does the water provide greater freedom and mobility to those that are otherwise restricted, but the physical activity and sense of community involved provides a healthy boost for the children. Plus, it’s great fun!

Staff are on-hand the entire time, working to support the children and maintain a safe and inclusive environment for everyone.

Having supported Play Inclusion Project for several years already, The DJ Sidebottom/Glasdon Charitable Programme are proud to renew our support for this terrific charity. Our donation of £3,500 will help fund the Weekend Club for another year, ensuring this flourishing community continues to uplift local parents and their children.
